SEA Articles on Election

I wanted to point you to a series of articles written by my fellow Arminian in Christ, Keith Schooley, on Romans 9. As Keith points out Romans 9 is an often debated portion of Scripture concerning the doctrine of election. Calvinist see Romans 9 as biblical proof of the doctrine of unconditional election but Arminians see the chapter as not teaching election to salvation but to service. Keith does a great job of presenting Arminian answers to Romans 9. Check it out here.

I believe that Adam Clarke did a great job explaining Romans 9. The clear, obvious meaning is the salvation of Israel as a nation, with Paul anticipating the objections from the Roman gentiles. In fact, there is no mention of anything to do with the individual...it's a corporate election, a people (Jacob) being spoken of.
